You’re getting married and don’t know how the photography side of things all work? This guide will give you a great idea of the booking, shooting and production process of how things are done! :)
The Booking Process:
Once you’ve had a look through my website, checked out
my work and read a little
about me. Shoot me an email to find out if i’m available on your date, obtain package prices and to speak further about your special day. From there we can meet up over coffee or via Skype and go through all those awesome details that you have planned for your day, look at some albums and get to know each other. Once you’ve decided that there is just no way that you can’t book me you’ll need to fill out the booking form and also pay a 30% retainer of the total package to secure the date. :) When all the boring paperwork has been done we can start to plan and set a date for your
engagement session!
The Engagement Session:
After locking in your wedding date and booking in the session we’ll throw around about ideas for awesome locations, style and themes. These are designed to be really fun, relaxing and a fantastic way to get to know each other better and get some awesome images to hang on your wall in the lead up to the wedding day! Once we’ve photographed the session I’ll usually have a few images online within a few days and you’ll have the session in high resolution on a disk and in your sweet little hands within 2-3 weeks. You’ll also be able to purchase prints, canvas and even albums via the online ordering system.
Pre Wedding Day:
In the months and weeks leading up to the wedding we’ll be in contact to figure out all those tiny little details for your special day to make sure we’re both on the same page. I’ll be scouting locations and figuring out where will be best to shoot at the time of day allocated. I’ll also be organizing flights and accommodation if your wedding is based outside of the Canberra region. For international weddings I’ll most likely be asking you questions regarding the area :)
Wedding Day:
- Getting Ready
I usually recommend a minimum of an hour coverage allocated to photographing the getting ready of the bride and another 30-45 minutes if you’d like the groom covered too. You’ll also need to add on travel distances between bride/groom and also allowing myself to arrive at the ceremony 15 minutes before the bride walks down the isle.
- First Look
A first look is when you meet up before the ceremony and is a fantastic way to allow more time to photograph you both together and for you both to share a quiet moment together before the ceremony, one that you’ll treasure in the years to come. It’s a less traditional approach and one that is becoming very popular.
- The Ceremony
Being unobtrusive is my number one goal! Thanks to my awesome ninja training you won’t even know that i’m there ;) To make sure I can capture every moment I always have a second shooter for the ceremony and depending on your package for the rest of the day too. After the ceremony is over family photos are the next item on the agenda. To ensure that the family shots are taken as smoothly as possible and to allow as much time mingling with guests, a list of combinations of family members and assigning a someone to round up the troops is very useful.
- Bridal Party Portraits
In the lead up to the wedding we’ll go through lists of possible locations that will work really well with your wedding theme and will work with the amount of time allowed. I’d strongly recommended having 1-2 hours assigned to the portraits to get the best results :) Unless you’ve arranged a first look session. :)
- The Reception
After a long day you’re going to want to let your hair down a little and have a party with all those amazing family and friends. Once dinner is served and the speeches and formalities are over then it’s time to hit the dance floor with style. I’ll cover the evening with flair, style and if you’re lucky might even bust some killer moves of my own. :]

After The Wedding Day:
After the wedding day is over I’ll be heading home to back up all those amazing photos. I’ll store them in different locations on multiple drives for ultimate data security. If you wish I’ll also post a sneak peek online within a few days so you can show off a small amount of photos to your friends and family. Within 3 weeks I’ll have finished all of the final photos and you’ll have those digital files in high resolution. On selected packages you’ll also have an included online wedding slideshow of all your images that you can send to all those friends and family members.
-Proofing Gallery
Once you’ve received those beautiful photos on a DVD you’ll be itching to get your favorites printed out and hang them on your walls. To do so I offer all my clients the most incredible quality, archival grade printing and canvas. I’ll send you a link and password to access your own private gallery of photos from which you can order and purchase your favorites.
-Albums
Many of my clients invest into albums of their wedding day. These are custom designed, hand made and are an absolutely gorgeous and timeless way to preserve those special memories. Base albums with 15 spreads start at $900 and can be customized to have up to 40 spreads (80 pages). Contact me for more information :)
